Katrina Roundfield, PhD, is a licensed clinical-community psychologist who pivoted her career from academic medicine to entrepreneurship in behavioral health tech startups. Katrina is inspired by the human ability to change – to make healthier choices for ourselves, our families, and our communities. She has devoted nearly two decades of her career to building, implementing, and scaling interventions that lead to healthier outcomes for families and communities.
In more recent years as an entrepreneur, Katrina was the co-founder and Chief Clinical Officer at Appa Health, a teen mentoring and mental health skills company. At Appa, Katrina led the team to successfully secure a $2M Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. Prior to co-founding Appa, Katrina was on the founding team of Two Chairs, an adult psychotherapy startup. Katrina maintains an advisory role at Two Chairs today. Under Katrina’s executive clinical leadership, the company scaled from 0 to 1000s of therapy sessions per week.
Katrina completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology at DePaul University and her predoctoral residency at Yale University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry in 2014. She completed an NIMH postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Services Research at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry in 2016. Katrina enjoys hiking in Oakland with her husband and two children.
